About City of Springfield Fire Dept.
Nestled in southwestern Missouri stands the City of Springfield. The historic community is protected by the Springfield Fire Department (SFD) which is made up of more than 220 dedicated professionals. In 2023, SFD accepted the delivery of a new pumper fire apparatus, their first built by Iowa-based Toyne, Inc.
SFD provides a multitude of services to an 82+ square mile area including emergency fire protection, fire prevention education, medical emergency assistance, water and technical rescue, hazardous materials response, and more. The department tasked Toyne with building a new pumper to meet their needs.
The apparatus features a bolted painted stainless steel body which was mounted on a Spartan Metro Star MFD chassis with a 10" raised roof, and is powered by a Cummins ISL9 380 horsepower engine and an Allison 3000 EVS transmission.
