Toyne Priority Response Vehicle Delivered to Corning, NY
01.04.18
The East Corning Volunteer Fire Department recently received a new pumper courtesy of Toyne, a leading fire apparatus manufacturer. The fire department, located in Corning, New York, selected a Toyne Priority Response Vehicle as a replacement for an older engine. They expect the new technology to improve the department's effectiveness and allow it to better meet the community's needs.
Toyne built East Corning's PRV pumper on a Spartan Gladiator MFD 10-inch chassis, and it is powered by a Cummins ISX12 500 hp engine. Driven by a 4000 Allison EVS transmission, the apparatus includes a 1000-gallon UPF tank and a Hale Q-Max 2000 gpm pump. The vehicle is well suited for use in a small community, and will significantly step up the department's fire-fighting power.
The new addition will also expand East Corning's ridership, allowing it to meet the National Fire Protection Association's standards for the number of people required to enter a burning building. Complete with Fire Research telescoping lights, the new truck will help East Corning Volunteer Fire Department be ready to respond whenever the call comes.
"We are honored that the East Corning Volunteer Fire Department trusted us to build their new apparatus, because we pride ourselves on engineering quality, effective engines that meet our customers' needs," said Michael Schwabe, president and CEO of Toyne, Inc. "We are looking forward to seeing the great impact this new PRV will have in Corning, and how it will help out the brave men and women who serve their community."
The town of Corning is located in Steuben County in southern New York, and its population sits at just under 11,000 people. The volunteer fire department has been around since 1960, and its operations rely on strong community support.
Corning's Priority Response Vehicle was sold by J.P.B. Fire Services, Inc. out of Syracuse New York. J.P.B. Fire Services is an authorized Toyne apparatus dealership for sales, service and warranty claims, and works with customers throughout central New York.
