Rural Nebraska Fire Department Reinforces Its Fleet with Two Toyne Fire Apparatus
Breda, IA (May 1, 2023) – Since its inception as a ‘bucket brigade’ in the 1880s, the Newman Grove Rural Fire District (NGRFD) in Madison County, Nebraska, has provided protection and peace of mind for its residents, local area farmers, and visitors. The 31-member volunteer department tasked Toyne, an apparatus manufacturer based out of Breda, Iowa, with building a customized pumper and tanker/tender to expand its fleet.
Newman Grove, which is located in the southwest corner of Madison County, Nebraska, is part of the Norfolk Micropolitan Statistical Area. Its nearly 800 residents rely on the brave men and women of the Newman Grove Rural Fire District to respond to fires, natural disasters, and other emergency response situations.
NGRFD recently accepted delivery of a new Toyne Pumper and Tanker/Tender, the department’s first and second Toyne fire apparatus. Both apparatus feature a bolted, painted, stainless steel body, mounted on a Freightliner M2 106 2-door chassis and Freightliner M2 112 2-door 6x4 chassis respectively.
