Breda, IA (May 1, 2024) – Created in 1950, the Lynn-Scott-Rock Fire Protection District (LSRFPD) was established to help protect the communities of Davis Junction, Lindenwood, and Holcomb in Ogle County, Illinois. LSRFPD contracted Toyne, Inc., a fire apparatus manufacturer based in Breda, Iowa to build a new fire apparatus for the district.

Lynn-Scott-Rock FPD’s latest build is a pumper tanker/tender, their fourth Toyne Tailored Apparatus. The new Toyne features a bolted painted stainless steel body which was mounted to a Spartan Metro Star MFD chassis with a 10" raised roof. Powering the rig is a Cummins ISL9 450 HP engine and an Allison 3000 EVS transmission.

Additional apparatus features include

  • Waterous CSU 1500 GPM Pump
  • Foam Pro 2001 Class A Foam System with 25-Gallon Foam Tank
  • Fire Research Pump Boss Pressure Governor
  • 2500 Gallon UPF Tank
  • 2500 Gallon Syntex Portable Tank
  • Zico Hydraulic Painted Porta-Tank Rack

  • Above Compartment Hard Suction Storage
  • Storage for 8 SCBA Bottles in Wheel Wells

“This is the fourth apparatus we’ve built for Lynn-Scott-Rock [Fire Protection District] and we’re proud to continue serving their needs,” said Mike Schwabe, President of Toyne, Inc. “We look forward to working with LSR again in the future and hope this pumper tanker/tender serves their district well in the years to come.”

LSRFPD is a volunteer department that provides fire, rescue, and emergency medical services to a local area population of roughly 3,400 residents. The Lynn-Scott-Rock Fire Protection District is a member of the Mutual Aid Box Alarm System (MABAS), an organization of hundreds of fire departments in Illinois and Southern Wisconsin. MABAS provides equipment and emergency response to unique types of incidents in specific areas.

Toyne Authorized Dealer Dinges Fire Company sold the apparatus to LSRFPD. The apparatus was recently on display in Toyne’s booth at FDIC 2024 in Indianapolis, Indiana.
